On 15th October 2021, the TOKEN consortium partners welcomed a high-level delegation from Uzbekistan to share their experience on developing blockchain within public administrations.
The meeting was part of a study tour to the BeNeLux countries in the framework of a joint project of the Public Services Agency under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan “Improved public service delivery and enhanced governance in rural Uzbekistan” financed by the European Union. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations in rural areas, such as women, youth and children, the elderly and people with disabilities, by expanding their access to the public services and improving the quality of service delivery.
The main goals and objectives of the visit of the Uzbek delegation was to learn from digital transformation projects that implement blockchain technology in the public service delivery in EU countries. The delegation was hosted by Infrachain in Luxembourg, while TOKEN consortium partners Fiware Foundation, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH/ITI), Demos, Fundingbox, Municipality of Katerini, Net Service, Flanders Institute for Logistics (VIL) and University of Cantabria joined via video-conference. The Uzbek delegation comprised members representing Public Services Agency (4 people), Ministry of Justice (2), Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications (1), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1), State Cadaster Agency (1) and UNDP Uzbekistan (3).
After a general introduction, the TOKEN partners presented the 4 pioneer use cases developed within their project and responded to the questions from the guests from Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek delegation further investigated the use of blockchain in public services in meetings with the Luxembourg Ministry for Digitalization and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
